As we edge ever closer to the new series of Celebrity Big Brother, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive as fans speculate the identities of this year’s housemates.

The series – its second in its new home on ITV – is set to commence on April 7 and will again be presented by AJ Odudu and Will Best. EastEnders star, Patsy Palmer – who plays Bianca Jackson – is the latest big name to be suggested.

With the prospect of other TV and reality stars setting tongues wagging, fan of the show and TV critic, Beth Anne, has compiled a list of the “alleged” participants – and it was the name of one of those who others begged, “Surely not”, at the thought of.

As well as Patsy, Beth Anne highligted the likely inclusion of Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd (who plays David Platt) as well as former Love Islanders Chris Hughes, Mitch Taylor and Tommy Fury.

“I don’t know whether I believe this,” she confessed of the latter in a TikTok video. “It’s the timing – it could be the worst or best decision ever.”

Beth Anne also revealed TV and radio presenter Angelica Bell’s name has been touted, as well as singer and actor, Chesney Hawkes and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season four winner, Danny Beard. “He was a regular on [CBB spin-off] Late and Live and apparently he’s a dead cert,” she said.

Amongst the other possible candidates are former Married At First Sight contestant, Ella Morgan, TOWIE’s Ella Mae Wise and former Olympic athlete, Daley Thompson. It was the last name on Beth Anne’s list that caused a stir in the comments section.

That name? “It seems like there always has to be a token politician,” she continued. “And this year it’s former Tory MP, Sir Michael Fabricant, who lost his seat in 2024 after holding it for 32 years.”

The 74-year-old served as MP for Lichfield in Staffordshire from 1992 and also worked as vice-Chairman under former Prime Minister, David Cameron. It wouldn’t be the star’s first stint on reality TV, having starred in Celebrity First Dates for Stand Up To Cancer in 2017.

“Surely not Fabricant!” one TikTok user exclaimed in response. “I know. Let’s hope not,” said Beth Anne.

Over on X, meanwhile, many fans shared the the thought, including one who shared: “Conservative MP Sir Michael Fabricant is going into Celebrity Big Brother. I just find it kind of weird. Don’t MPs work across the pond?”

Another X user declared: “Absolutely won’t be watching if this is the case. Politicians are NOT celebrities.” A third said of Fabricant’s inclusion: “That’s me out.”

A fourth asked: “Have we not suffered enough?” Whilst a fifth X user slammed: “Love CBB but won’t be watching if he goes in.”
